  • Five minutes' walk from Nouan-le-Fuzelier's shops and railway station
  • Loire Valley châteaux and ZooParc de Beauval within an hour's drive
  • Lake on site for fishing and swimming; municipal pool opposite
What’s the top thing you look for in a campsite? Fishing lake? Swimming pool? Perhaps restaurants and shops within easy walking distance – or a railway station so you can get around without a car? It’s not a question of choosing when you stay at Camping l'Etang de Sologne – this Loir-et-Cher site ticks all of those boxes… and many more too, in terms of both location and facilities. Location first? Well, it’s in a green area on the edge of Nouan-le-Fuzelier, about five minutes’ walk from the shops (including a supermarket, bakery and butcher/deli) and restaurants in the town centre. The railway station is similarly a handy five minutes’ walk away, with services to Orléans, Bourges and Paris. The site is just off a main road as well, so the driving is easy, and you can hire bikes on site if you'd like to tour on two wheels. This area is packed with things to do, and you’ll be in an excellent spot to get to attractions like ZooParc de Beauval and the Loire Valley châteaux, or to explore the local countryside on foot or by bike. Golf, horse riding and canoeing are other options nearby, and guests have access to the municipal swimming pool opposite the entrance. As for its own facilities, the site has a fishing lake with a beach area for swimmers and small boat rentals. There’s a play area, a tennis court, a pétanque court and a games room, along with kids’ activities and entertainment for all ages in high season. For eats, pick up essentials from the site shop or relax at the snack bar, which has a menu of salads, burgers and other easy meals.

What customers say

Lovely spot, spacious sites, heaps to do for the kids (lake, playgrounds). Staff generally friendly, easy motorway access. A few grumbles about pitch lines, not enough bins, sometimes grubby loos, and grumpy bar staff. Some were surprised about hook-up adapters.

Prestige powered grass and earth site

Liked Very spacious pitches.
Lovely settings within the site
Easy to get to off the A75
Great cycle route but had to find it ourselves, it would have been nice to have been provided with a small map or even just advised it was there, as this filled a day for us and actually the town we got to had a few bits going in.

Disliked Nothing to do outside the campsite if you are on foot.
Nowhere to eat outside the campsite
The reception shop barely held the essentials (milk / bread / snacks etc)

Powered grass and earth site

Liked On-site lake. Polite, efficient staff on reception. Basic amenities sold in reception.

Disliked Sanitary block unclean - needs a proper, deep clean, not a cursory clean - scum around sink fittings, grime on shower walls, grubby floors. Washing up sinks directly adjacent to toilet cubicles (separated by a partition/wall but effectively in same 'room'), yuck.

Also, the pitches are not clearly delineated and provide little shade (few trees, no fences or anything like that) - has the feel of camping in a carpark or holding bay - or at best a festival site - i.e. everyone is crowded in together - no privacy and all stepping on each others pitches.

Liked Spotless facilities with seats and toilet paper.
Despite site being busy, generally quiet at. night.
Access to local pool but very busy

Disliked Unable to access allocated pitch despite paying an additional.fee to.request shade and quiet area. Had we been able to accesd allocated pitch, this tewuest eould have been met. No attempts appear to.be made to.ensure arrivals set up in correct place and pitch marking is ambiguous.
Not enough showers and toilets when.site full.
Happy to charge for reqiesting specific requirements but not willing to refund extra charges when unable to.meet requests.

Liked Prestige spots were spacious compared to municipal campgrounds
More shade, more grass.
Showers and toilets were plentiful and clean.
Lots of stuff to do for kids!
Small lake was GREAT for hot days, even if a there was some bonus algae.
The municipal pool directly across the street offered another swim option, though hours were more limited (closed for a long lunch and lessons).
The staff were really kind and accommodating.

Local attractions

The lake on site isn’t the only one around here – in fact, there are lots of them, and they’ve had a huge influence on the area’s life and culture. You can find out all about the lakes' nature and heritage at Maison des Étangs (10 minutes’ drive), and/or follow the waymarked 22-kilometre Route des Étangs to see them for yourselves by bike or car. More nature-themed outings nearby might take you to the Pole Stars De Nançay planetarium (25 minutes), to hire canoes or kayaks for a paddle down the Loire (50 minutes) or to meet a whole menagerie of marvellous animals at ZooParc de Beauval (an hour). Of course, the Loire Valley is well known for its châteaux – there are many to choose from, but a couple of favourites are the huge Château de Chambord (45 minutes) and Royal Château of Blois (55 minutes). For more historic sights, plus museums and good eats, aim for Orléans (45 minutes) and Bourges (55 minutes).
