Staying there could save you money too, as it’s outside the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ), making it spot on for anyone combining London sightseeing excursions with quiet rural evenings. This site is managed by the Caravan and Motorhome Club and open to both non-members and members. The price shown is the discounted member rate; non-members will need to select the £15/night extra or buy a membership. At £69, membership is well worth considering if you're likely to spend more than four nights at a Caravan and Motorhome Club site over the year. It entitles you to discounted rates at more than 140 UK Club sites and a raft of other perks, like access to tailored caravan/motorhome insurance, discounts on days out and savings on top brands. The site sits in wooded countryside next to the Pilgrims Way, giving you direct access to the North Downs. Hikers can find detailed information on other local routes like the Downlands Circular Walk in the information room on site. Those of you who prefer a stroll to end with a pint can be at a family-friendly 18th-century inn within 40 minutes’ walk through the Surrey countryside. Meanwhile, practical amenities and shops are on hand in Caterham (10 minutes’ drive). Pitches here all have electric hook-ups and access to helpful facilities like a launderette and modern bathrooms with accessible facilities and baby/toddler washrooms. There are a couple of play areas, and dogs are welcome too – you can walk them in the woods next to your pitch.

  • Commercial vehicles (vehicles used for work-related purposes, carrying goods or fare-paying passengers) and sign-written vehicles are not permitted on site.
  • Units longer than 10.4 metres are not allowed.

Occupancy

  • No hen/stag parties permitted via Pitchup.com.

Reception

  • Reception is unmanned after 5 p.m.. Please inform the campground while on your way there should you expect to arrive after this time so that the team can provide information about your unit/site.
  • If you choose the membership option, your membership details will be issued within five working days once the booking is fully paid. A 14-day cooling-off period from the booking date allows for cancellation of the membership and a refund of any fees paid.

Liked Great size pitches and lovely and quiet and clean. Great location.

Disliked They close toilets and showers at 11 to clean. Some people would still need to use at this time.
Need more water standpipes for tents and campers.

Route directions

Satnav takes you to unsuitable roads for towing, so please use the following directions for the final approach to the site. From east and west on the M25: leave at junction 8, take exit signposted A217, Reigate and Redhill. Take the left-hand turn to Merstham (Gatton Bottom). Follow the road for about two miles, and at the T-junction turn left. Take the second turning on the right, signposted Caterham B2031 (Shepherds Hill). After one mile, turn left into Dean Lane at the sharp right-hand bend. The site entrance is on the right. Note: a security barrier is in operation and is closed between 11pm and 7am. This is the only Club Campsite within the M25 not included in the Low Emission Zone.
