Crack into the Dorset countryside and wind down with lake views at Shaftesbury Country Touring Park. From cruising down countryside trails to taking day trips down to the Jurassic Coast (an hour’s drive south), this friendly 19-acre rural site is well-positioned for families, including their dogs, to indulge in the outdoors. There’s plenty to keep guests occupied in the area, as the site is a five-minute drive from Shaftesbury, a market town home to the cute Gold Hill, a famed site paved with ancient cobbles. Shaftesbury has ample cafés, restaurants and pubs where you can fill up on different types of food (or beer, if that’s on your mind). Handily, there’s a well-stocked licensed mini market on site, and a larger supermarket in town in case you need to stock up on more extensive supplies. Other amenities on site include an amenities block and a launderette to help keep you looking your best, whether you're off for a day of animal-spotting at Longleat’s safari park, half an hour’s drive away, or perhaps trying to unravel the mystery of Stonehenge, 45 minutes’ drive away.

喜欢 Owner is so friendly and informative, we feel really welcome on the site which is a lovely feeling.
Toilets and showers were cleaned daily, hot water was perfect temperature, the showers had little cubby's to hold soap/shampoo etc and the hand soap smelt incredible- so much so I have purchased some for my home.
Being outside of the town the view of stars is incredible! There is no light pollution on the site affecting the view; I have always lived in a big town so i have only got to see stars in their minority due to the light pollution where I live.
The CCTV at the entrance to the site and outside the showers/toilets made us feel safe too.

不喜欢 The road at the top of the field is quite noisy so for very light sleepers this could be an issue however this cannot be helped by the site owners and is in no way a criticism of them or their business at all.

喜欢 Owner very welcoming Great location for exploring Great showers and toilet facilities pitch sizes are really good

不喜欢 When the site got busier the area outside the toilet/shower block got a little smelly but didn't last long
The dog poo bin seemed rather full my whole stay concerning when it's right next to a caravan and another pitch

Not many places around that's good for the dog

Just to explain a couple of points
Unfortunately the dog poo bin is not just used for dog poo,
It actually gets full of everyday rubbish which should be placed in the normal bin as instructed!

We have a stream around the campsite, well it is a stream until we have extraordinary weather, so unfortunately that is why occasionally its a little smelly, sadly there is nothing we can do about it.

If you had asked we could have told you about some really nice dog walks in the area

喜欢 A really lovely site with the friendliest owners who made us feel really welcome from the very start, we’re new to camping so this was very nice for us, the toilets and shower area was very clean. The pitch was completely flat and very spacious. The lake was beautiful and well kept. We had a really lovely time and will definitely be back :D

不喜欢 Nothing, that we only stayed for two nights

喜欢 Large plots away from other campers. Peaceful and relaxing.The lake and space for a decent dog walk. Labelled dog poo bin and recycling bins. Close to several interesting places. Friendly hosts who answered all of our questions when needed.

不喜欢 Entrance not sign posted as well as it could be, especially entering the drive.

Take a detour into the animal world for a little while… there are several animal-orientated activities within reach of the site, including the family-friendly Farmer Palmer’s Farm Park (45 minutes’ drive) for hands-on farm activities and the Bush Farm Bison Centre (15 minutes), home to bison and elk and woodland walks. On a bigger scale, Longleat (half an hour) has a drive-through safari packed with wild animals. However, it has more than just animals – there’s also an adventure park and over at Longleat House (35 minutes), you can ogle over an Elizabethan house through tours, exhibitions and walks around the formal and pleasure gardens. There are more trips into history at hand too, whether it’s inside Old Wardour Castle (20 minutes), Stourhead’s mansion and landscaped gardens (20 minutes) or Stonehenge (45 minutes). If you want energy-packed afternoons instead, the New Forest National Park (50 minutes) and its hiking and cycling trails may be worth the little longer drive. There are opportunities for watersports in Bournemouth (an hour) or a scenic coastal walk at Durdle Door (an hour) on the Jurassic Coast.
