Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked We stayed in one (of only 2) campervan pitches. Loved the small scale of this campsite. Not too busy but had everything you needed - lovely hot showers, wash-up and compost loo. Freezer for ice blocks, USB charging. You can take a stroll between the fields and to a local garden centre. Enjoyed our short stay .Thank you.
Disliked My campervan broke down on only our second night and we ended up cancelling the rest of our stay to be recovered home :( gutted!!

Shepherd's hut
Liked Wayside is a lovely small campsite, with great facilities and lovely staff. Clean showers and wash up area. A range of camping options-campervans, motor homes, tents, shepherd's hut and a lodge to hire. A lovely bar area. We hired one of the shepherd hut's and it had everything we needed for a couple of nights.
Disliked The 2 x cheaper option shepherd hut's are quite close together. The BBQ and socialising spaces are right next to each other. So you have to put up with any loud neighbours, in our case who didn't take any notice of the quiet hours request and were still talking at 2am.

Non-electric grass pitch
Liked The amount of space we had in the field and the views across the fields and dunes. The facilities are basic but they were clean and the electric showers always delivering hot water. Even the wash up sinks, although outside had warm/hot water. We were treated to swifts and swallows and later on bats diving low across our camp. Lovely helpful staff in the shed reception all day. Was able to charge my phone and freeze ice blocks.
Disliked Shower unit is stood in a field so expect insects and cobwebs but it could of done with a bit of a sweep out. The actual toilets/showers etc were always clean though.

Rambler camping pod
Liked A lovely scenic location, great view. Comfortable wooden camping pod. Clean toilet and shower facilities. Really hot showers. Friendly helpful staff. I thought pitch.up.com said no campfires, but you are allowed a fire as long as it is in a fireplace off the ground. Firepits and wood available to buy on-site.

Crabapple non-electric grass pitch
Liked Very small, quiet campsite (only some farm activity noise) and a nice location for an overnight stop. In the countryside but close to main road networks. Clean facilities with everything you need - toilet, shower and pot wash up. Fridge if needed is a great touch if you're not in a caravan.
Disliked The grass being mown around us on one of the hottest days, kicking off the flies and our hayfever.

From the manager: I will take notice of your comment about the grass cutting and review when they cut.

Electric grass touring pitch
Liked Quiet, no frills campsite with all amenities you need. Was great for an overnight stop on way to Yorkshire. Shower, toilets and pot wash. Dan was friendly and helpful. Loved the small wooded area, was enough to do a few circuits on our bikes. The road/track in was fine.
Disliked Couldn't get hot water in the pot wash

From the manager: It was lovely to meet you - we are glad to say the pot wash water has been resolved. See you again soon.

Non-electric grass pitch
Liked Friendly/welcoming reception lady. Stayed in the non-electric grass pitches with my campervan. This area was ideal, choose your own space. Pitches not allocated. Close to a river and opposite open field. Area was quiet. Good facilities.

Non-electric grass pitch
Liked Not a huge campsite, which is great with spacious pitches. The location was gorgeous, close to the severn way and the River Severn. Close to a lovely village. Able to have a BBQ and campfire. All the facilities you need. Will be adding this to my list of sites to re-visit if in the area.
Disliked It is a small site so there are only 2 showers. It was a bit busy in the morning trying to use one.

Shepherd's hut (adults only)
Liked Lovely clean, cosy shepherds hut. Very comfortable bed and in December it was really quiet, could only hear the birds. Perfect to have own toilet and sink. Friendly staff who were good enough to post my handbag to me when I left it in the pub. Very tasty breakfast in a great pub.
Disliked Not really a complaint, just some confused instructions on where to park my car on arrival. It says you can park next to the hut, but I wasn't able to and nearly got blocked in by a massive campervan that arrived later. Also couldn't get wifi signal in the hut, but signal was fine in the pub.

Non-electric grass campervan pitch
Liked The lovely couple who run the site, so helpful and friendly. A great, chilled, easy going eco campsite. A child friendly place with lots of space to play (when we were there at Easter). Best washing up view. Fire's allowed with fire pits for hire.

From the manager: Everyone needs a reason to wash up, we've done what we can 😉 Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. You're very kind.

Electric grass pitch
Liked The owner of the site was very friendly and accommodating. The site is set in woodland , with the grass site being lined by trees (you are not among the trees) and a medium to small site which was perfect for us. Love that you can hire a fire pit and wood - camping wouldn't be the same without a fire. Enough outside washing up facilities. Toilet block with 3 showers and 4 outside sinks shared with the men. Had a lovely stay, no noise after 11pm which made for a great sleep after busy days exploring.
Disliked A refreshing shower that gave a blast of cold water, then a lovely shot of warm water, finished with another luke warm to cold blast, each time you pressed the button or held it on.

Liked Friendly welcome, one of the site managers was usually around to answer any questions. Quiet at night, lots of space for the children to play in and not too busy.
Close to beaches and surrounding areas.
Disliked The showers weren't great. They ran hot and cold and there was nowhere private to get changed.

Gypsy caravan
Liked I hired the Gypsy Caravan with my 6 year old daughter and I loved the secluded site the Gypsy Caravan was on. It was nestled in the woods of the Old Mine House's grounds. The owners no longer have general camping so it was really quiet and my friend was able to park her campervan near the entrance to the woods so we could enjoy camping together. The site had Geese and Guinea Fowl wandering around. It was perfect wild camping with a touch of luxury in the Gypsy Van. The bed was so comfy and it was so dark at night we slept better than at home. We had a fire every night and the owners supplied us with plenty of wood. There are some beautiful places in Dartmoor and if you're looking for a wild, back to nature, quiet, non-commercial campsite - hire the Gypsy Van and stay here.
Disliked None of the solar lights outside the Gypsy Caravan worked or came on.
The drive up to house is a little rocky and I missed the entrance to the house twice - make sure you read the instructions to where they are located and don't rely on Sat Nav.
