Bardwell Manor Equestrian Centre

Me gustó We found the campsite easy to get to with no tight lanes to go down. You turn off the main road and go along a long track which is very bumpy with speed bumps for added measure. We left a lot slower than when we came in. Lesson learned 😬

We were met by Sharon with a very friendly welcoming and showed us to our pitch (No 3). The site is quite compact and if full would be rather cosy. The site is a very peaceful and tranquil site with the benefit of being surrounded by wildlife and loads of horses, which we said hello to everyday plus the Chinese brown geese that just roam freely. Very clean with bins for recycling and general rubbish. There is no Elsan point or grey water waste point.

There is his and hers toilets a little walk away from the campsite where there is also a room with a shower which also has a washing machine and tumble dryer in, then theres another room with another shower in and a sink for washing up with nice and hot water. It is basic but it is a working equestrian centre where they also have access to but was clean and adequate. There was always toilet rolls and hand-wash in the toilets and washing up liquid in by washing up sink.
We managed to book a riding lesson in advance which Sharon took and baring in mind I'd never been on a horse before made me feel very comfortable and enjoyed the whole experience thoroughly.
The WiFi was down when we were there but we was still able to get a 4g signal when needed.
It's a lovely campsite to relax and unwind and forget about daily life while watching nature at its best and watching glorious sunsets and suited our needs perfectly

Me gustó This was a nice quiet campsite, with lovely surroundings and additional horsey friends to keep up company. The owner was very friendly and helpful. She allowed our children to play in an additional field so they had extra room. Toilet and showers were cleaned daily and to a good standard.

No me gustó The only thing I didn’t like and this is personal to me is there were geese roaming around the grounds (which was fine as they were no trouble at all) but this meant there was geese poo everywhere around the grounds and I didn’t like having to try and dodge it all the time but like I say this is nothing to do with the owners themselves.

Me gustó A nice small and peaceful campsite, being a horse woman it was lovely to see all the horses in their paddocks and stables

No me gustó The shower and toilet facilities were basic. But because they were in the stable area they were also used by staff and people who had their horses at the yard so they weren’t always clean and tidy. So it would have been nicer if these were separate

Me gustó Small, quiet part of the site surrounded by paddocks with horses. Friendly greeting on arrival. Lovely flat area with mown grass.
Clean facilities with hot shower, washing up sink, toilets and washing machine (we didn't use). Only a few pitches in use so kids could have space to play.
Lovely to fall asleep to the horses and owls. Don't expect a playground or anything for kids to do, instead bring card games and enjoy.

No me gustó Not a dislike, but we didn't think to ask in advance about opportunities for the kids to ride and they didn't have space.

Me gustó Flat pitch, friendly welcome and peaceful site surrounded by horse fields. Lots of wildlife... geese, owls, buzzards. Basic facilities, but adequate. Nice hot shower ( no button) with washing machine available. So nice we returned on our way home! Mile walk into Ixworth along the edge of the fields, to bus stop ... then bus into Bury st edmunds. Lovely historic town!

Me gustó Being surrounded by beautiful peaceful horses and the haggling geese made my weekend.
