  • Lakeside site in the Mecklenburg Lake District
  • Forest setting on Userin Lake, 20 minutes' drive from Neustrelitz
  • Beach, boat dock and boat rental, playground, sports ground and shop
Clothes off... or clothes on. With its nudist section, Campingplatz am Useriner See is a fab choice for those who aren’t fans of tan lines, while its non-nudist area means it also welcomes people who like to stay clothed while on hols. Set in the state of Mecklenburgische Seenplatte, the site is a couple of hours’ drive north of Berlin, in a spectacularly scenic area that’s a top spot for outdoor adventures. It’s right among the waterways and forests of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern region’s Müritz National Park, and lies directly on Userin Lake (handily, boats can be hired on site). This area is nicknamed the Mecklenburg Lake District; explorers can venture north to the sparkling waters of the Görtowsee, and from there towards the Käbelicksee via the source of Blankenförde and Babke. For urban adventuring, the popular lakeside town of Neustrelitz is within 20 minutes’ drive, and the site’s local town of Zwenzow – also lakeside – is five minutes from the park by car. Those not up for watery or city-based roams can settle down on site for basking sessions at the lake beach, letting the kids loose at the playground, or having competitive times at the sports ground. A shop is at reception if you need any last-minute essentials, and barbecues are allowed. Off-site, a restaurant is about a kilometre and a half away.

What customers say

This campsite is praised for friendly staff, clean facilities, and a peaceful, natural environment. Guests enjoy the FKK camping, a clean lake, and boat rentals. Some note limited sanitary facilities and distant power hookups. While relaxing for many, a few experienced construction noise in peak season.

Sollen doch alle gerne tun was sie wollen...

Local attractions

If you're up for birdwatching along with your forest walks, ospreys, white-tailed eagles, storks and cranes live among the 32,000 hectares of Müritz National Park. There’s also hiking and cycling to be had on the trails here – ask for details at the site if you’re keen to explore. Neustrelitz has a market to roam round, as well as a Baroque-era castle and gardens. Kids can make a beeline for Tiergarten Neustrelitz to see the animals, including goats and alpacas, while adults might want to spend lazy afternoons supping on steins at the harbour pubs on the lake’s edge. You can be at Lake Müritz – the biggest in Germany – within a 45-minute drive of the site. Pleasure boating’s possible (and, indeed, recommended) here; some vessels can take bikes on board if you’re thinking of starting a cycling tour on the other side. Müritzeum, the visitor centre for the Müritz National Park, is an hour away from Campingplatz am Useriner See – a top spot for tapping into tips on navigating the area.
