What a fine location this is for a family holiday – Campotel at Le Pin Parasol is on the banks of Lake Jaunay, surrounded by green woods and close to top Vendée beach towns like Saint Gilles Croix de Vie and Bretignolles-sur-Mer.
There’s plenty to do in the surrounding area, but you may find it tricky to leave the park at all, given how many leisure options are on site. The main highlight for many guests is the waterpark, which has a dazzling seven heated pools, plus two paddling pools, a water play area, five waterslides and a spa area with sauna, Jacuzzi and massage room.
If that’s not enough water-based options, take a stroll to the lake, where you can take a dip in the fresh water, settle in for an afternoon of fishing or hire kayaks and pedalos.
It’s not all about being in the water around here though – there are plenty of activities on dry land too. Might your kids like to play games at the multisports court, have a go at miniature golf or leap about on the bouncy castle? Maybe they’d like to try archery, tackle the zipline or challenge themselves to the climbing wall? Or perhaps they’d enjoy some time at the kids’ club, which provides hours of entertainment for younger guests (and some welcome downtime for their parents…)
Found a small amount of time to eat? Take your pick from the restaurant, the takeaway or cooking your own meal back at your caravan, where there’s a well-equipped kitchen, a barbecue and indoor and outdoor dining areas.

Liked Second time staying and we were even more impressed than last year
Everything is brilliant,especially the shows and the staff are so polite,we will return next year
Disliked The 30 minute time limit on your sun chair at the pool,its impossible to go for lunch in 30 mins and if you do you will return to your towels being removed from the sunbed

Local attractions
For a change from the waterpark on site, take yourselves off for a day at the beach – the Vendée coast is well known for its lovely sandy beaches, and the nearby resorts of Bretignolles-sur-Mer (15 minutes’ drive) and Saint Gilles Croix de Vie (20 minutes) are both great places to spend the day by the sea.
Les Sables d’Olonne (half an hour) is a little further away but worth the trip for its wide, sandy beach, its zoo and its modern art museum. While you’re in the area you may also like to check out the go-kart track just outside the town, or stop at the Vendée Automobile Museum to admire all the old cars.
For other activities nearby, try out disc golf, treetop rope courses and pony rides at Le Grand Défi (five minutes) or plan a day at Puy du Fou (an hour), taking all the history-inspired rides, shows at one of France’s top attractions.
