Great location near Mam Tor and Castleton walks. Friendly staff, farm atmosphere, and views are a hit. Facilities are basic but clean, though showers cost. Some report overcrowding and noise. Good value for hikers.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Fairly Quiet. Working farm. Simple. Eggs for sale. Excellent walking access to Mam Tor. Option to rent firepit.
Disliked Pay for shower. Very basic wash block.
Note - No (easy) walking route to town due to lovely rural location and elevation.

Decent
Primitive grass campsite
Liked I like the late check in time of 9pm. The site was well placed for climbing ethels and good scenery.
Disliked The toilets were dirty, there was no handsoap across the entire weekend. There was no toilet roll for Saturday or Sunday in both women and mens toilets.
The WiFi connection is a bit hit or miss, make sure you dowlaod your maps beforehand.
The jacket Potaote truck was not open, we would have liked this if it was.
Chemical waste disposal is just down the men's toilet.

A really good site as a base to explore the peak district.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Relaxed site, great views, good location to Castleton
Disliked Shower wasn't in great condition considering you have to pay for it. But not a deal breaker.

Rough and ready camping but value for money.
Primitive grass campsite
Liked Good views and location for walking. Fire pits allowed. Tent area tidy and grass maintained. Showers were warm and although £1 for 3 min that is enough time. No signal which was nice to be cut off from the world for most of it, this goes for the surrounding area and town as well, was only a pain when we were looking for walking routes or trying to find information on the local area.
Disliked Facilities a bit tired. Lack of set pitches/rules so people will get close to you, luckily we arrived early and claimed a larger area in a better location but I think we would’ve struggled during peak summer holiday season. Limited interaction or information from staff on arrival (site rules/information about the area/facilities). High up exposed location, very windy.

Primitive grass campsite
Liked Perfect location for hiking, nice place with a lot of space, can buy some eggs and other stuff, would like to comeback one day.
Disliked Not that dislike, but would need more toilets and showers, when busy days think need to wait in queue…
