  • Spectacular setting for the Gower Peninsula, overlooking Oxwich Bay
  • Refurbished eco-friendly shower block with underfloor heating
  • Large adventure playground
You will, of course, have heard of the great Gower Peninsula. This spectacular south Wales spot of cliffs, coves, caves and bays is so handsome it was designated the first Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in the UK way back in 1956, made up of 70 square miles from Loughor Estuary to Swansea Bay; if you've never been, this really must be on your holiday list. The folk at award-winning Greenways of Gower Premier Leisure Park reckon their location is 'second to none' for Gower camping – and once you arrive there, you'll reckon they're right. Right in the centre of the peninsula, Greenways overlooks stunning Oxwich Bay and its two and a half miles of golden sands, once named as the best beach in Britain; Rhossili Bay, several times voted the best beach in Wales, is under 20 minutes' drive from here. Greenways is a family-run and family-orientated park, with grass pitches and plenty of space. Gratified previous guests have lauded the amenities as 'exceptional': they include an eco-friendly and modern shower block with underfloor heating running off an air source heat pump, plus disabled facilities and a parent and baby washroom. For leisurely pursuits, a big adventure playground is next to the camping area. There's also a pizza truck and a pop-up bar on site (these two are available on weekends in the summer or on bank holidays). Shops and restaurants are within walking distance.

What customers say

"This site has cracking views of Oxwich Bay & easy beach access. Folks loved the spotless facilities, especially the hot showers & big pitches. The pizza bus & bar are a hit. Staff are grand, always helpful. Generally quiet, though a bit of a din on busy times. The trek back from the beach is a bit of a climb, mind."

Non-electric grass tent pitch (two person)

Liked We were very happy with the cleanliness of the facilities/toilets/laundry room etc, the bins were always emptied.

Disliked On our final three days when the campsite was practically empty, we found that the washup /laundry room water from the hot taps was really not hot to be able to properly wash the dirty pots and pans.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Clean toilets. Friendly staff. Pizza available. Gorgeous surroundings, the sea a short walk away to Oxwich. Three cliffs bay also wonderful and a short drive away. Swansea drivable if you have kids and weather is bad, with lots of activities to book.

Disliked Bank holiday weekend perhaps made us unlucky as we had very noisy campers around us blasting out music all day long from 8am to 10pm. They would turn it down when security came around and back up when they left. Some dogs were allowed to run off lead and were the more aggressive looking breed. Tricky when you want freedom to let your little ones run around freely. The site security did try and address this. By the Tuesday the campsite had emptied and we could enjoy the distant sound of the sea with peace and quiet. Couldn’t get WiFi to work. Still a lovely campsite.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked Beautiful location, showers and toilets in good condition with good water pressure/ temperature, friendly staff. Easy to find a nice flat pitch in the quiet field and park next to our tent. We stayed for the bank holiday weekend and it was busy but never felt crowded and never had to queue for anything. Lots of families with young kids. Play park was enclosed and kept my kids entertained for hours. The pizza bus was great. Spotted security walking around the fields regularly and didn't notice any trouble.

Disliked There was one very loud group in another field but they stopped the music at a reasonable hour- not sure if it was by choice or security told them to.

Non-electric grass campervan, tent or trailer tent pitch

Liked The location was great, amazing views and local area.

The children’s play area was brilliant - lots of things to do, close by and with seats for adults.

The pizza bus was 10/10.

Disliked It became increasingly busy after we arrived and pitching was chaotic. Staff did not appear to remind campers of remaining a safe or respectful distance from others, meaning tents near us felt much closer than we have experienced elsewhere.

We experienced a lot of noise disturbances despite being in the quiet field, and felt on-site security did little to intervene regarding antisocial behaviour, missing opportunities to protect the space for everyone.

Facilities were ok but more regular cleaning would have been preferred given how many people were using them.

We suspect this is a lovely site when quieter.

Local attractions

The stunning sands of Oxwich Bay and their fringe of dunes, woodland and coastal footpath should be your first Gower Peninsula port of call, for long lazy days sunbathing and sandcastle building, summer watersports such as sailing, swimming, windsurfing and diving, and boat and jetski launch from the beach. Around the sands, this is prime walking land: take the Gower Coast Path from the bay for a three-and-a-half-mile coastal and woodland ramble to Oxwich Point, or around the same distance from the bay to Port Eynon Walk via Three Cliffs Bay and Port Head. The wetland site of Oxwich National Nature Reserve, a Site of Special Scientific Interest, is also well worth a wander. For a city sightseeing day, Swansea is half an hour's drive from the park.
