  • Coastal park set in over 50 acres of grounds
  • A short drive from the surf schools and beach at Bude
  • Free heated pool, free wifi, clubhouse, kids' club and bar
Free! The price of zilch is what you’ll pay to keep the kids happy at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park a few miles from Bude, which is bound to result in wide-mouthed grins for all concerned... This large and lively family park has kids’ clubs run by the cunning Foxy, free evening entertainment by the Stripey Coats, crazy golf to go loopy at and an indoor heated pool, which are also…free. As is the wifi in the clubhouse. Huzzah. Widemouth Bay Caravan Park’s location is also pretty smilesome: on a hilltop overlooking the Cornish countryside and the fab Widemouth Bay with its three miles of sand. There are over 50 acres to lose yourself in around the park and pretend you never have to go home, with the takeaway, well-stocked shop and tasty meals at the bar keeping you sorted for nosh and a launderette looking after the essentials. Looking for yet more things to do on site? Challenge the kids on the amusements or show them how to hustle on the pool table – letting them beat you should result in even more wide smiles…

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked The space and the facilities were good, and very clean.
The highlight for us was the staff and entertainment team - the 3 'stripeys' were really excellent and considering they were all relatively new they organised the kids and the activities really well whilst keeping us entertained. I have 2 young children so we didn't stay until the cabaret but early evening was great.
The bar, restaurant and reception staff were really friendly and helpful.

Disliked The arcade was a bit sad with a lot of the machines were out of order. I did see families winning huge amounts of tickets but I honestly don't know where from :)

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked It was nice to have facilities for the children - mini golf, arcades. Beautiful views across to the sea. We enjoyed Widemouth Bay, Bude canal and eating at LAB, Summerleaze.

Disliked The pool felt dirty - maybe some more chlorine needed and a general refurb. The pitches were sloping and not defined. The tents felt all quite close together and you had to watch children closely due to traffic.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked The facilities were lovely. Kids club was very good !! Mini golf and swimming were fun. I was surprised to find out that the zorbs and paddlerz and aqua jets were free but found this out too late to book them during our stay. Food was good in the club house and reasonably priced. Drink were also reasonably priced. Showers were warm.

Disliked The field for camping was very slanted. This was the sites major downfall. The pitch number we were given they say is a estimate and you can go somewhere near that number as long as you are 6metres from another tent but someone had decided to completely take up our pitch number so we had to go at the bottom of the field and we all kept tripping over getting into our tent. Our airbeds kept moving to the bottom and touching the tent sides which was then getting this wet in the night. The toilets need cleaning more times a day for the amount of people in and out and walking on the fields. My 3 year old daughter went to the toilet twice to find blood on the seat, just can’t believe people not cleaning up after themselves.

Primitive grass tent or trailer tent campsite

Liked We loved the mini-golf, playground, swimming pool, and although we didnt use the other children's activities, they were there and looked like a great time. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, the site was clean and cared for. There were lots of toilets and showers as well which was great. The park shop on site had most essentials which was helpful. Great location!

Disliked When busy, the showers had very sporadic water pressure, sometimes hardly going on at all, however when they weren't all in use at the same time the showers were good! Some of the tent campsites were very close together, and not defined, which I didn't love. My only real complaint is that the park store didnt have propane/gas cylinders for little camp stoves, however the people who worked in there were great.

Disliked The campsite is lovely but I’d highly recommend you pay the extra and enquire about flat pitches as the site is very hilly other than that lovely!

Powered cement/asphalt travel trailer campsite

Liked We had a lovely time, the entertainment was good for kids. Loved that the pool and mini golf etc was included in the price. Beautiful view of the sea. Lots to do in the imediate surrounding area

Disliked The toilet blocks are abit run down, certain times of day the water barely runs out the showers and they do need cleaning more often. The club house again is abit dated. Very steep hills (but I should have checked!) So just something to be aware of when booking. Wouldn't stay again just as we like to try out different sites

Local attractions

Widemouth Bay is where you’ll find the surf: if you’re new to launching yourself happily into the waves there are surf and bodyboarding schools dotted all around here and Bude, and Newquay is within 50 minutes' drive. Bude less than 10 minutes by car has a couple of excellent beaches: Summerleaze, to have a dip in the sea pool at the bottom of the cliffs and to bag a beach hut for hire so you can pretend for one fleeting afternoon that it’s your very own, and Crooklets, which you can reach by a short stroll from Summerleaze Down. Both beaches, and the sea pool at Summerleaze, are lifeguarded. The staff at Widemouth Bay Caravan Park recommends a car to see the best of Cornwall, but you won’t have very far to drive to reach most of the main hotspots: the Eden Project is about 50 minutes away, and Tintagel, legendary home of King Arthur and Merlin, is just along the coast.
