  • Eco-friendly site on a small organic farm in Carmarthenshire
  • Welsh Wildlife Centre 35 minutes’ drive; Folly Farm 50 minutes
  • In a wooded valley with rural views; access to quiet lanes for walks
With a mixture of spaces all restored, upcycled or built in situ, the team at Ceridwen Centre is justly proud of the site’s eco-credentials. Set on a 40-acre, family-run organic farm five minutes’ drive from the Carmarthenshire village of Dre-fach Felindre, this family-friendly site sits in a wooded valley with views over rural west Wales. The owners have planted more than 4,500 trees across their land, and guests benefit from sustainable biomass heating as well as solar power to heat the water. Green criteria extend to the pop-up licensed bar and café-restaurant (open occasionally during the summer holidays, and every day during the on-site summer art show each August). When the café is open, all ingredients are sourced straight from the owners’ organic gardens or from small-scale local producers. You're also welcome to stroll around the 40-acre organic farm. Or if you’d prefer a gentle country stroll in the Teifi Valley – perhaps accompanied by your family dog – there are walks in quiet lanes directly from the pitches.

Eco camping pod

Liked Lovely secluded spot, the caban bach had everything I needed for a relaxed stay. While visiting my car broke down and the owners helped with lifts to the garage and a late check out. The site was really lovely.

Derwen yurt (hot tub)

Liked The peacefulness, the area, the cozy inside. All of the extras especially in the kitchen that was thought of for us. The relaxing vibe and hot tub, plus the outdoor fire pit was a lovely bonus.

Disliked Sofa bed wasn't super comfortable, but fine for a 30 something year old. The toilet was rather smelly which attracted a lot of flies, but to be expected I guess.

Electric grass and gravel motorhome pitch

Liked The whole setup is great. Wonderful views over the valley, lots to explore round the farm. Great facilities, quiet countryside setting.

Disliked The slippery when wet steps up to the showers just need a bit of wire mesh fixing over them .

Local attractions

Learn about the importance of the former textile industry to west Wales through hands-on exhibits at the National Wool Museum (five minutes’ drive), and support the local economy by buying a soft woollen blanket woven in a traditional Welsh pattern to take home as a souvenir. Spend time among the Mediterranean plantings in the world’s biggest single-span glasshouse at the National Botanic Garden of Wales (40 minutes), and see another magical garden (one with 15th-century origins, no less) being brought back to life at Aberglasney (45 minutes). Continuing the outdoor theme, see if you can spot otters or voles at the Welsh Wildlife Centre (35 minutes) or Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve (half an hour). For family days out, it's likely kids will love the fairground carousels, big cats and cuddly Shetland ponies at Folly Farm Adventure Park and Zoo (50 minutes). To meet handsome steeds of a slightly bigger stature, head for Dyfed Shire Horse Farm (35 minutes).
